Overview
- Planning
- SDG Self-Assessment Tool that helps municipalities evaluate their current practices and their alignment with the SDGs. The objective is to help users identify strengths and areas for improvement related to SDG data collection, strategic integration, community integration, etc.
- Indicator Explorer Helps users identify SDG indicators relevant to their municipality, with definitions, data sources, and guidance for translating their current data into SDG language.
- Learning
- Case Studies List of examples of SDG initiatives and success stories from Canadian municipalities, filterable by SDG, theme, and region.
- Downloads and Resources Repository of resources for users to access reports, guidance documents, and SDG frameworks. Split into two sections:
- Learning resources,
- SDG frameworks.
- Accountability framework (to be included in MVP v2)
SDG Self-Assessment
This assessment helps municipalities and organizations evaluate how well their current practices align with the key SDGs across four focus areas: data collection, strategy integration, community engagement, and monitoring and reporting. Use this to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, whether you’re just getting started or refining existing efforts.

Indicator Explorer
Use the Indicator Explorer to find SDG indicators most relevant to your municipality context and learn how you might be able to identify and translate data you currently have into SDG language. Use this as a reference to identify available, meaningful indicators for planning, reporting, or benchmarking against provincial/national efforts.
Search by keyword or filter by SDG to quickly locate indicators that match your local priorities.
Internal Note: This table provides an overview of commonly used municipality indicators identified through our literature review, similar SDG indicators, and ways to map them to each other. Ideally, filterable by SDG or theme. Everything to be populated in advance and should offer the capability of being updated on the back-end semi frequently.

Case Studies
Explore case studies of municipalities and organizations in Canada that are successfully implementing the SDGs. These real-world examples offer practical solutions and lessons learned that you can apply to or benchmark against your own community. Filter by SDG, theme, or region to find relevant initiatives and strategies that align with your local priorities.
Internal note: R&P will identify case studies that can be uploaded as buttons in something like the format below. Each case study will be tagged with SDG, theme, and region, and each button should ideally show a snapshot of information that users can skim through. The original source for the case study will be hyperlinked to the “Title” of each button, opening in a new tab when clicked.
