Empowering Students with Vital Cybersecurity Knowledge and Skills


In today's digital landscape, the rise of cybersecurity threats requires that students are not only aware of online risks but also equipped to defend against them. Developing digital proficiency is a cornerstone for higher education, career advancement, and technological literacy. ICTC provides specialized programs and learning pathways designed for Canadian K-12 students to strengthen digital proficiency.

ICTC's Jump-Starting Digital Careers (JDC) team has regional education coordinators across the country ready to guide you in selecting the most suitable program for your young learners.

We understand the importance of seamless alignment with provincial curriculums for primary and secondary school students. Therefore, our asynchronous or facilitated offerings have flexible and customizable program schedules, catering to your youth's unique learning requirements. Additionally, our programs are available in both English and French.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals

ICTC's Cybersecurity Fundamentals e-Learning course was designed to empower students to mitigate their risks online. Through this course, students gain knowledge to recognize and effectively reduce online threats. Our program places a strong emphasis on developing digital literacy skills while providing a deeper understanding of cybersecurity concepts. Additionally, students have the opportunity to explore rewarding careers that require this knowledge and skill set.

Basic Windows Command Line: Cyber Range

Students will learn about the command line and get hands-on practice to get comfortable with using it.

Basic Linux File Management: Cyber Range

Students will learn file management techniques to organize and manage files such as copying, moving, deleting files and searching for files.

Introduction to Windows File Management: Cyber Range

Students will learn file management techniques to organize and manage files such as copying, moving, deleting files and creating shortcuts.

Introduction to Basic Operating Systems: Cyber Range

Students learn the role of an Operating Systems (OS) in a computer and get hands-on experience with two families of OS: Windows and Linux.

Introduction to Network Analysis: Cyber Range

Networks are created with many devices and computers linking to one another. Fundamental concepts are introduced along with how to view, create, and analyze network data with the tool Wireshark.

Steganography: Cyber Range

Steganography hides secret data in files or images. Therefore, steganalysis, that is, detecting steganography, is an important skill for cyber analysts. Both are examined.

Suspicious Files and Hidden Folders: Cyber Range

After this course, the student should be able to search for and identify suspicious files, including files within hidden folders.

Windows Hardening: Cyber Range

In this course, students will learn how to better protect a Windows computer system against basic threats and vulnerabilities by identifying security risks and applying standard hardening techniques.

Hashes: Cyber Range

Students will learn to create hashes and identify common security scenarios where they are used. They will also use the hashcat tool to find weak hashes.

Active Defence: Cyber Range

This course revisits the concepts and skills learned in previous modules by presenting students with active defence tasks that tie everything together.

Firewalls: Cyber Range

Firewalls are basic network security tools used to filter incoming and outgoing packets in accordance with pre-set rules. Delve into the creation of rules and how to determine the process of determining firewall rule parameters, equipping learners with essential knowledge in network security management.

Encoding Decoding: Cyber Range

Encoding replaces characters and symbols with standardized values. Identification of basic encoding patterns, as well as the encoding and decoding of text and files, are important to cyber analysts.

Ransomware Simulation: Cyber Range

Experience a simulated ransomware attack! Learn how to regain control of your computer and secure it after a cyber intrusion. This activity focuses on recovering and securing a Microsoft Operating System (Windows 10) PC that has fallen victim to ransomware. Gain essential skills in forensic analysis.

Defend the Flag Facilitated Competition: Cyber Range

Student are immersed in a simulated CyberTitan National Finals scenario to defend Canada. Facilitated by ICTC Staff, students learn how to regain control of their computer and secure it after being hacked. Recovering and securing a Microsoft Operating System (Windows 10) PC that has been hacked by ransomware with instruction on forensic analysis.

CyberRange Course from Asynchronous Section

All of our cybersecurity courses can be offered in a facilitated student learning day. Our Education Coordinators can attend virtually or in person to facilitate any of the above listed in our Asynchronous section. Content includes: File Management, Network Analysis, Stenography, and Hashes.

Cyber Legends

Cyber Legends believes in accessible and free education that protects children and teaches them how to navigate the online world safely. In order to guard the next generation, the course delivers cyber safety and coding education for children in Grades 1-8 through an interactive gaming platform, and free teaching resources for educators and parents.

International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, also known as EC-Council, is the world’s largest cyber security technical certification body. The courses include the world-famous Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator, Certified Security Analyst, Licensed Penetration Testing program, among others.
